new Mosquito Galaxie PowerVac.

5. Install MA-1000 Octenol Attractant Cartridge:  
c. Pull bulb out of its socket.  
d. Insert replacement bulb.  
U.S. Government and university researchers have demon-  
strated that octenol, a component of human respiration, is  
an attractant to mosquitoes and bitingi e s .  
e. Close hood and secure with latch  
f. Connect power cord and return switch to the “on” position.  
Use only Flowtron BF-200 replacement bulbs available  
The Galaxie PowerVac uses a specially designed time  
release cartridge containing octenol (1-OCTEN-3-OL).  
Install the Octenol Cartridge as follows:  
4. Axel Fan and Funnel:  
a. Release the hood latch by pulling top of latch forward.  
Clean the axel fan and funnel each time the octenol car-  
tridge is replaced or more often during periods of heavy  
insect infestation.  
b. Raise the hood up to a vertical position.

c. Remove the octenol cartridge  
from its package and peel off  
the adhesive label covering the  
evaporation holes.

CAUTION  
Always disconnect the power cord from its electrical  
source before serv i c i n g , handling or cleaning the unit.  
d. Place the cartridge in the rec-  
tangle well in the center of the  
plenum with the evaporation  
holes facing upward.  
Octenol  
To clean the Fan and Funnel, open the hood latch and lift  
the hood to an upright position.  
See Illustration 4.  
a. Clean fan blades and area between the fan blades and  
the surrounding fan housing using the cleaning brush  
provided. The brush is located behind the Octenol well.  
Simply slide the brush out from its stored location.  
When complete place cleaning brush back in its proper  
storage location.  
e. Close hood and secure the  
hood latch.

6. Position and screw power pack to either an outside or  
inside wall adjacent to a 115/120 volt A.C. outlet (screws  
not provided). Run the low voltage wire either above or  
below ground from the power pack to the unit. Plug the  
low voltage wire into the power cord connector located at  
the bottom of the PowerVac. Plug the power pack into the  
electrical outlet.

b. To clean the funnel, remove the collection tray and then

7. Place the switch located at the rear on the underside of  
the unit adjacent to the power cord to the “on”position.

Note: Hood must be down and latched to ensure  
that the built-in interlock is engaged and will allow  
power to come on.

When the power is applied, the ultraviolet blacklight-blue  
bulb will emit a bluish glow, the axial fan will rotate, the  
four colored LED’s will light and oscillate and the built-in  
heater will heat the entry louver to body temperature.  
Remove insect debris from  
screen surrounding funnel.  
Wash screen with water and  
shake off excess water before  
re-installing.

Maintenance  
1. Collection Tray:  
Empty the collection tray periodically to ensure proper air  
flow through the trap. To remove the collection tray, push  
in on the latch at the front of the tray and pull tray down.

Re-install funnel by holding  
funnel at a slight angle and  
inserting the front edge of the  
upper funnel surface inside of  
unit’s housing. See figure C.

Replace the octenol cartridge after approximately three  
weeks of Galaxie PowerVac usage.  
3. Ultraviolet Blacklight-Blue Bulb:

Push funnel upwards and with  
the rear section of the bottom  
funnel ring at a slight angle  
compress funnel until front  
tabs of bottom funnel ring are  
up inside of the housing.  
See figure D.  
To replace the blacklight-blue bulb:  
NOTE U l t r aviolet or “blacklight” is invisible to the  
eye, and its ability to attract insects diminishes ov e r  
time. Therefo r e, although the bulb appears to be  
functioning it should be replaced ev e ry season to  
maintain optimal “blacklight” effectiveness.

a. Place on/off switch to the ”off” position and disconnect  
power cord.  
Close hood, secure with latch, connect power cord and  
return the on/off switch to the “on” position.  
b. Open hood latch and raise hood to an upright position.  
 
Warranty  
PV-440 Trouble Shooting Chart  
Symptom  
Probable Cause  
1. No power at outlet.  
Remedy  
Ultraviolet bulb, fan and  
colored LED’s do not  
function.  
1. Check for 110-120 Volts AC power at outlet.  
2. Hood interlock switch not closed.  
2. Check for proper latching of hood.  
3. Unit not properly connected to its  
power pack.  
3. Check plug connections between unit and power pack low  
voltage wire.  
The fan does not run.  
1. Fan clogged with insect debris.  
1. Clean fan. (See “Maintenance” section of owner’s manual).  
1. Engage the funnel end with the collection tray nozzle opening.  
No dead insects or insect  
debris in collection tray.  
1. Funnel end is not over collection tray  
nozzle opening.  
2. Clean fan and funnel. (See “Maintenance” section of owner’s manual).  
2. Fan and/or funnel clogged with insect debris.
